Orchestration and Arrangement Lessons

So you want to write for larger ensembles or you want to arrange music for a given instrumentation! This is a skill like anything else, and you don’t really need to go to school to get a degree to do this as long as you have good guidance from a good composition teacher.

This is Toccata by Khatchaturian for piano, orchestrated for wind ensemble.

This is an arrangement of Scott Joplin’s Wall Street Rag for Band. I know Ragtime is never swung but in the voice of band it sounded right to me.

Orchestrations and Arrangements

This is a piano work by Debussy, orchestrated for reed quintet (Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon).

This is Dance of the Earth from Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring orchestrated for Wind Ensemble. Very exciting!

This piece is a different piano work by Debussy, orchestrated for String Orchestra.

This is an arrangement of the hymn “What Wondrous Love is This.”
